Dr. Levin has conducted and directed scientific,  engineering and planning research since 1964.  He believes that each project requires a comprehensive literature search in association with the gathering of facts and clear exposition of results.Dr. Levin founded ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATES (ERA) IN 1970, at a time when the nation’s awareness became focused upon the problems of air, land, and water.Prior to ERA, Dr. Levin was a faculty member teaching the environmental sciences at public and private universities in the United States and Canada. His research then and since has been concerned with alterations or disturbance of natural systems.  Drawing on this background, he has authored numerous reports and treatises describing the management of natural resources, man made systems and human health investigations. His areas of scientific knowledge and long-term expertise include real estate evaluations of a comprehensive environmental nature, regional planning studies, environmental impact studies, natural resource surveys and human health and safety investigations.  In association with these, he offers a wide variety of laboratory and testing services. Wood evaluation, including identification of species and measurement of physical, chemical and engineering properties, has involved Dr. Levin in a wide variety of research investigations concerned with the effects of various agents on natural woods, plywood and veneers, and fiberboards, resulting in different types of degradation processes.Dr. Levin has testified in State Courts in New Jersey, Connecticut, Virginia, and Delaware, and in Federal Court in Canada concerning: conservation of the Coastal Zone, disposal of  low level radioactive waste, product liability and construction liability.  In addition, his authoritative environmental research has settled disputes concerning toxic and hazardous substances in the human environment.Dr. Levin holds a B.S. degree from the University of Vermont and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Rutgers University.  He was elected to Sigma Xi, the scientific honor society equivalent to Phi Beta Kappa.
